An abundance of English oak leaves woven in luxurious tapestry and adorned with hand embroidered wild brambles made from glass pearls. There is a fine nude leather interior with gold embossed logo. A classic woodland scene with a cosy yet opulent allure.
This leafy design was created to reflect the bountiful and chaotic beauty of woodland. We therefore cut the tapestry to offer different variations in the colours and patterns of the foliage. The bramble berries are also embroidered in an organic manner so no shoe is identical.
Story of the Verdure Slipper
Over the last 150 years, our English shoemaker has been using traditional techniques to produce bespoke slippers and house shoes. Each pair is expertly cut and lasted, ensuring that each pair offers a comfortable perfect fit.
'Verdure' tapestries were woven throughout the 17th and 18th Centuries, featuring wooded landscapes, reflecting the interest in botanical themes during this period. The Renaissance also influenced the ‘Aristolochia' (or ‘large leaves') style, depicting birds and animals nestled amongst oversized foliage.
Produced in the traditional weaving regions of Europe, the tapestry produced for these slippers are woven on Jacquard looms by skilled craftsmen using carefully selected yarns. Inspired from the past, but woven for the present.
